Miami Heat swingman Derrick Jones Jr. will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, but he recently stated that he’d like to stay as long as possible.

“I want to be here my whole career,” Jones Jr. said. “If I could have that and we could come to an agreement with the Heat, I’m with it. I just want to be here.”

Teammate Goran Dragic is in a similar situation, but he also expressed a similar opinion.

“We like it here,” Dragic said of Miami. “It has been fun. It’s a nice place to live, the kids are going to school here. So definitely this would be one of the options to be high on our list. Like I said, you don’t know what the future holds, how the talks are going to go and we’ll see. But I’m confident that we’re going to choose the best situation for our family.”

It was recently reported that the Chicago Bulls had interest in both Jones Jr. and Dragic.

In the future, the Heat could possibly look to bring in a forward/center who can shoot and who would be open to a lucrative one-year deal.

Some possible candidates include Danilo Gallinari, Paul Millsap, Marcus Morris and Serge Ibaka, according to John Hollinger of The Athletic.

The Heat will also have to decide if they want to re-sign some of their own players including Dragic, Jones Jr., Jae Crowder and Meyers Leonard.
