Rafa leaves Madrid while Slaughter stays another year

Unicaja Malaga have announced the signing of Rafa Hettsheimeir on a two-year deal as he joins from Real Madrid.

Hettsheimeir will replace Luka Zoric, who will play in Istanbul this coming season with Fenerbahce and with this addition, Malaga have a dynamic frontcourt with Fran Vazquez returning as well as Mindaugas Kuzminskas, who arrives from Zalgiris all looking to lead the Liga Endesa side.

Unicaja Malaga will be in Group C of the Euroleague regular season with champions Olympiacos, Montepaschi Siena, Galatasaray, Stelmet Zielona Gora and Bayern Munich.

Slaughter stays in Spanish capital for another season

Marcus Slaughter has agreed a new one-year deal with last season’s Euroleague finalists Real Madrid.

The 28-year-old settled for a bench role with the club since arriving from Brose Baskets where he exploded onto the scene in the 2011-12 season. The performances he gave in Germany, not just in the Euroleague but in the domestic Beko BBL season earned him a spot on Real Madrid’s roster.

Real Madrid will be in Group B with Anadolu Efes, Zalgiris, Slaughter’s former club Brose Baskets, EA7 Milano and Strasbourg.
