Kentucky Wildcats Tyrese Maxey declared eligibility for the 2020 NBA Draft, as the young prospect announced today via his social media acounts.
“My thoughts were that we would be playing for a national championship [today],” Maxey told on ESPN. “Although we’re unable to do that due to what our country is experiencing, I felt like this was the day to declare for the draft to make it as special as I thought today would be.”
The freshman started the season with an incredible performance against Michigan State scoring 26 poinst on his debut. More so, he scored 27 points against Louiville in December 28.
The Texas native is the fourth freshman guard that played in Kentucky backcourt and, then, vault to the NBA joining the likes of Brandon Knight, Devin Booker and De’Aaron Fox.
Kentucky’s head coach John Calipari was elated for his guard noting that he went harder on Maxey than any other player this season, because of his incredible talent.
Maxey is projected as a late first round pick in the 2020 NBA draft averaging 14 points per game on 42.7 percent shooting from the floor and 29.2 percent shooting from three in his lone season in Kentucky.
