Barcelona add Lampe to impressive roster

Barcelona have strengthened their squad by signing Polish forward Maciej Lampe from Kutxa Laboral on a three-year deal.

The 28-year-old averaged 13 points and 6 rebounds in the Euroleague last season as he helped guide the team formally known as Caja Laboral to the Euroleague quarter-finals where they lost to CSKA Moscow. Lampe was also named the Euroleague Player of the Month for December.

Lampe comes to the Catalan giants a well-travelled player, with spells in Israel, Russia and a stint with the Houston Rockets on his resume.

Lampe was a Eurocup winner in 2011 with Unics Kazan but didn’t play a single game during the 2011-12 Euroleague season due to injury.

The signature of the Poland international underlines Barcelona’s intent for this season, where they lost out to rivals Real Madrid at the Final Four in London and conceded the Liga Endesa title to them as well. Lampe joins Kostas Papanikolaou, Bostjan Nachbar, Joey Dorsey as well as returning veterans Marcelinho Huertas, Victor Sada and Juan Carlos Navarro to the line-up.
