Efes Announces Scotty Hopson

Anadolu Efes has agreed to terms with the American swingman Scotty Hopson.

Traditionally and expectedly, Efes announced the deal almost a week after the agreement went public. In a statement released by the club, it was announced that Hopson signed a 1+1 year deal with the Turkish side.

Hopson, who played for the University of Tennessee in college basketball, last played for Hapoel Eliat in Israeli league. 23-year-old guard averaged 17.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3 assists in 33 games last season.

Engin Özerhun, the general manager of Anadolu Efes, stated that the scouting team of the club had been watching Hopson for a long time, and the staff believes Hopson will be a vital member of the team over the course of the new season.

Efes now has Scotty Hopson and Kostas Vasileiadis in shooting guard and small forward positions respectively. Even though they are not known to be elite defenders, this will undoubtedly give them an advantage in terms of size and length. Now it is up to Oktay Mahmuti, a defense-first coach, to create the defensive schemes that will maximize this potential.

On the other hand, Efes has been looking for a point guard and they are in serious talks with Thomas Heurtel, according to the reports in France and Spain. Heurtel said in an interview a couple of days ago that even though he still has a contract wtih Laboral, he is unsure if he will be with the team next season.
