Atlanta Hawks superstar Trae Young has said he will surpass Steph Curry as the NBA’s best shooter in a year’s time.

Young joined Shaquille O’Neal and his crew on The Big Podcast with Shaq this week and, to be fair, was put under some pressure by the hosts after Shaq asked him how long he thinks it will take for him to overtake Steph.

The Hawks guard tried to avoid giving a direct answer but Shaq and co. would not let up, pointing out that Curry is “old as hell.” O’Neal was also not having it when Trae tried talking up Curry’s skill and told the youngster he should stop trying to be politically correct. The 21-year-old would give in, declaring he would be a better shooter in a year.

“I work too hard,” he added.

Young is already one of the best shooters in the league and has incredible range. He was drawing comparisons to Curry when he was in college and things have only intensified since he came into the NBA.

Shaq really put him on the spot with that one. But he’s going to have to work a lot harder now that he’s put it out there.
