Schortsanitis is set free from Panathinaikos

Panathinaikos B.C. announced today that Sofoklis Schortsanitis will not be a part of the team for the next year, despite the fact that his contract expires in 2015.

After a very successful season, Panathinaikos had to start building the team for the season to come. To begin with, they signed two rising stars from Panionios (Jankovic, Pappas) plus they renewed Diamantidis and Lasme’s contracts.

Having completed these moves, the current Greek champions, focused on the attempt to make the team healthier in the economic section. This had as a result the release of the 28 years old center, who didn’t manage to satisfy the team’s coach, Argyris Pedoulakis.

The Greek National player scored 8.2 points per game and collecting 2.2 rebs in 12.6 minutes in Greece. His Euroleague stats were not better since he only scored 7.3 points in 11.8 points.

“Big Sofo” started pretty well in the early games, but what really matters in the good shape through time, and the Greek center couldn’t keep up with, so he was set free to seek the next station of his career. Same thing is expected to happen with Jonas Maciulis the next days.
