Obradovic returns to coach Fenerbahce

Former Panathinaikos coach Zeljko Obradovic has been confirmed as the new head coach of Fenerbahce.

The news, which was first reported by TalkBasket’s sister site Euro-Step will bring much needed confidence to fans on the Asian side of Istanbul, especially after the high hopes of last season’s side faded quickly.

Obradovic boasts one of the most impressive European resumes there is. He is an eight-time Euroleague champion, a two-time Coach of the Year (2007 and 2011) and he was named as one of the Euroleague’s 50 greatest contributors back in 2008.

Domestically, Obradovic has won 11 Greek A1 titles and seven Greek Cups, all with Panathinaikos. He also has a 1997 Italian Super Cup and a 1992 Serbian title to his name.

He returns to coaching following a one-year sabbatical. He replaces Ertugrul Erdogan as head coach.
