Banvit hire Itoudis with goal of Euroleague regular season

Turkish side Banvit BK have today announced that they have hired Dimitris Itoudis as their new head coach as they look to get through the Euroleague qualifying round.

The 42-year-old comes to Banvit to replace Orhun Ene, who spent four seasons with the Turkish side. Previously Itoudis served as an assistant coach to Zeljko Obradovic for 13 seasons at Panathinaikos, where he won five Euroleague titles in 2000, 2002, 2007, 2009 and 2011.

Itoudis also won 11 Greek league crowns during his time in Athens along with seven Greek Cups. Overall, he has 23 national titles in 13 years as Obradovic’s assistant.

Despite being better recognised as an assistant, Itoudis has had previous experience as a head coach. He led PAOK and Phillipos Thessaloniki but achieved nothing of note.
