Jusuf Nurkic was preparing to make his return on the court, when the league decided to suspend the season earlier this month due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

In particular, Nurkic was planning to make his debut on March 15 and explained why he chose specifically the Blazers’ game against the Rockets.

“It was an earlier game Sunday, and of course, I need to look [out] for my people back home. It was perfect for them too. It was like 8:30pm back home. So, everybody was pretty much set up and I thought it was a really good game because it was [a] home game and I really wanted to play [at] home first’,” Nurkic said, per Trail Blazers Insider Dwight Jaynes of the NBC Sports Northwest.

A compound fracture of his tibia suffered last March has forced the 25-year-old Bosnian center to miss almost the entire 2019-20 season.
