Gist signs a new deal with Panathinaikos

James Gist has signed a new two-year deal at Panathinaikos, the club have announced.

Gist became a popular figure with the Greek side since his mid-season move from Unicaja Malaga. He averaged 7.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and got under a block a game in 19 Euroleague matches last season.

The Greens will feel reassured that the future of one of their key components from last season has been secured. Rumours have been circulating over the status of the Euroleague Defender of the Year Stephane Lasme, who has been linked with a move to Russian rivals CSKA Moscow.

Panathinaikos reached the Euroleague quarter-finals last season where they were eliminated in five games by Barcelona.
