The San Antonio Spurs are a win away from the 2013 NBA Finals after a dominating overtime display saw them defeat the Memphis Grizzlies 104-93.
This gives the Spurs a 3-0 lead, and no team has ever come back from a 0-3 deficit. As always, the Europeans contributed heavily – and here is a brief run down.
Tony Parker (France) – 26 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals.
Another heavy points contribution from the French guard despite committing seven turnovers and going 11/22 from the field.
Parker seemed a little eager to shoot the ball and at times didn’t involve his team-mates, a huge difference to game two where he got a playoff high 18 assists. He got an index rating of +15, second only to Tim Duncan due to his points and minutes played [44].
Boris Diaw (France) – 7 points, 2 rebounds, 1 block.
A good performance off the bench for Boris Diaw, despite giving up a few offensive rebounds when on the floor.
At times, his shot selection was bad but effective inside.
Marc Gasol (Spain) – 16 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, 1 block.
The Spanish big man put up a brave fight, but let himself down with foul trouble. There’s no doubt though that he, along with Mike Conley have been the major contributors in this series for Memphis.
Gasol showed quick hands as well, proving his worth as this year’s Defensive Player of the Year, but it unfortunately wasn’t enough.
