An unprecedented criminal and judicial case came to its conclusion last night in Greece, after a basketball coach was setenced to a lengthy jail term for his despicable actions against his students and athletes.

Nikos Siragakis, a physical education teacher and a youth basketball coach was arrested in the Greek island of Crete, for molesting around 80 teenagers, many of which were his players in the youth basketball teams he used to coach. {jathumbnail off}

The boys, aged 12-16, were usually talked into his demented sexual fantasies, some of which included after midnight sexual orgies outside of chapples, candle lighting at cemetaries at night. The local law authorities knew about his action for 14 months before his arrest, but they finally arrested him after getting him committing some of the crimes on tape.

Allegedly he carried on these actions well over a decade, when he was coaching at the youth academies of Rethymno (Greek A1) basketball club. Only 52 of his victims decided to face him, but it was enough for the judges to setence him to a total of 401 years behind bars. Unfortunately due to Greek laws, the maxiumum period one can stay locked up in a jail is 25 years.

At no point of the trial did the 49 year old Siragakis, father of two teenage children himself, show remorse. On the contrary he claimed that all his actions were a part of initiation rituals which would turn his teenage victims into real grown up and brave men.
