The 2020 Olympic Games will be postponed and will not take place this summer, per Christine Brennan of USA TODAY Sports.
Veteran International Olympic Committee member Dick Pound told Brennan that the Olympics will not take place until, likely, 2021.
“On the basis of the information the IOC has, postponement has been decided. The parameters going forward have not been determined, but the Games are not going to start on July 24, that much I know.
It will come in stages. We will postpone this and begin to deal with all the ramifications of moving this, which are immense,” Pound said in a phone interview.
The Olympic Games were expected to start on July 24 in Tokyo, Japan.
