Italian League to cut players wages starting next season

The Italian basketball League (LegaBasket) held its Assembly in Bolognma yesterday. The League approved the starting dates for season 2013-14, with the Supercoppa on the first weekend of October (5-6) and the championship starting on the next weekend (October 12-13).

The clubs also unanimously approved the provisions relating to the parameters for registering for next as well as the deadlines for their fulfillment.

The Assembly then heard the report of the Commission for Relations with the Italian Federation (FIP), taking note of the ongoing and critical economic situation and with the aim to allow greater stability to the movement, the club believe a policy of substantial reduction in fees to its members can no longer be postponed.

They therefore mandated the Commission to verify the ways to achieve this goal next season.
