ESPN “bumps the brakes” in the ‘The Last Dance’ early release rumors

Despite the rumors, an early release of “The Last Dance” documentary doesn’t appear to be in the cards. In particular, the ESPN EVP of Programming Acquisitions and Scheduling, Burke Magnus, said the production of the film has not yet completed.

“Overall, any original content project that we can conceivably move up, we are obviously considering that, including films,” Magnus said in an interview for ESPN front row.

“I know some have asked about ‘The Last Dance,'” Magnus added. “And the reality is that the production of that film has not yet been completed, so we are limited there at the moment. Obviously, you can’t air it until it’s done.”

‘The Last Dance’, a 10-part documentary series about the 1998 Chicago Bulls, was slated to release in June.
