Twins reported to have assaulted Fernandez released

This picture was taken earlier on today as the two men that reportedly punched Real Madrid’s Rudy Fernandez were released from prison and headed straight to the bar for a beer.

The Macius brothers, well-known cult figures in the Lithuanian city of Kaunas waited for Real Madrid, especially Fernandez to leave the Zalgirio Arena after Zalgiris’ 105-104 loss to the Liga Endesa side last night.

Once they assaulted the Spanish international, they were both quickly arrested by Lithuanian Police and held overnight for questioning.

Euroleague Basketball is looking into the incident carefully and has requested Zalgiris to provide them with a detailed incident report as well as security procedures on game-nights.

Zalgiris has reportedly said that the Macius brothers will be banned from all home games for life.

The assault was due to the fact that in the last meeting between the two sides in January in the Spanish capital, Fernandez had thrown a ball at Zalgiris’ Ksistof Lavrinovic then taunted Paulius Jankunas after the final buzzer sounded.

It sparked angry scenes in Lithuania’s second city and the feeling towards Fernandez was felt with several banners directed at the former NBA player.

No doubt, there will be more to this story as the days go.
