Dennis Rodman in North Korean diplomatic mission

You just can’t make these things up. Dennis Rodman arrived in North Korea today to promote a so called “basketball diplomacy” as the sport is very popular in the secluded country.

Rodman was just one member of a multi-member American mission to North Korea, consisting of three Harlem Globetrotters basketball team players, a VICE media producer and his crew, who will be shooting a TV show of their visit there, for HBO.

The visit comes days after some weird videos circulated online, showing American troops and president Obama getting destroyed by North Korean troops and of course weeks after the Asian sleeper’s nuclear test.

Additionally to shooting a show, the mission will be organising a basketball camp for children, play pick-up games with locals and generally establish a cultural communication, in hopes of softening the country’s leadership, which has historically been basketball fans.
