USA basketball cancels Nike Hoop Summit

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, the USA basketball board of directors have announced the cancellation of the 2020 Nike Hoop Summit that was scheduled for April 10.

The event was set to take place at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon with practices during the days leading up to it.

The 2020 Nike Hoop Summit is a showcase for both U.S. and international players, where the USA Men’s Junior Select Team plays against the World Select Team.

Some recent notable alumni of the World Select Team include Ben Simmons, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Deandre Ayton and RJ Barrett.

Recent notable alumni of the U.S. Select Team include Jayson Tatum, Markelle Fultz, De’Aaron Fox, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Wendell Carter.

The next major scouting event on the NBA’s pre-draft calendar is the Portsmouth Invitational in Virginia, which is scheduled for April 15-18, but chances are high that it will be canceled in the near future.

*Update* The Portsmouth Invitational has been canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak.
