San Antonio Spurs sign Aron Baynes

In a stunning move, the San Antonio Spurs have signed Olimpija Ljublijana’s sensation center Aron Baynes to a multi-year deal.

Although the Slovenian club had announced that the player would see out the season in Ljubljana due to negotiations with some Euroleague clubs not going anywhere, they changed their mind after getting an offer from an NBA club.

San Antonio Spurs will pay a buy-out of $400K to Olimpija who didn’t want to put obstacles in front of the player’s dream of NBA. Olimpija will put the money in good use after being knocked out of Euroleague’s Top16 and they are already in the market for a center.

As for Baynes, who had a terrific Euroleague campaign with Olimpija, he will sign long-term contract and will depart to the US by tomorrow, adding another international component to the Spurs engine. Baynes will be joining another x-Olimpija player, Danny Green.
