Jeff Green continues to come off the bench for the Houston Rockets, but he is getting more opportunity with the starters.
Green, the newest addition to the Rockets’ roster, has seen an increased role over the team’s last two games.
In those two games, Green is averaging 19.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game, while shooting a super-efficient 78.3 percent from the field.
After playing minutes mostly in the teens, Green has played almost 30 minutes in his last two games.
Head coach Mike D’Antoni moved Green in with the starters to begin the second half of the team’s game against the Charlotte Hornets on March 7.
Green played with the starters instead of Ben McLemore.
Eric Gordon was also out with a knee injury.
D’Antoni recently said that Green has earned more playing time and would use him more often with P.J. Tucker, rather than just use him as Tucker’s backup.
“[Green] was able to get in the middle of the defense and finish,” D’Antoni said after the team’s loss to the Hornets. “We need guys that can finish, and he can do that. It’s definitely something to look at.”
If the last two games are any indication, Green will be making a strong case to continue playing extra minutes going forward.
