Bobby Brown destroys Fenerbahce, Euroleague Top 16 round-up

Bobby Brown exploded for 41 points as Montepaschi Siena defeated Fenerbahce 98-92 at the Ulker Sports Arena to bring week two of the Top 16 to a close

The American also became the first player since Thomas Van den Spiegel in 2007 to get an index rating of +50 as  Montepaschi Siena came back from a 73-69 end of third quarter deficit to collect a valuable road win and condemn Fenerbahce to their second defeat in the Top 16.

Montepaschi meanwhile improved to 2-0 in Group F.

“It was a special night for me and my teammates,” Brown said. “I’m happy to help the team to win. We did very well especially in the crunch time. We remained calm at the end and had a very important win on the road. But this is just the beginning. We still have plenty of games to play the same way.”

Bojan Bogdanovic led Fenerbahce with 31 points.

Elsewhere in Group F, Olympiacos comfortably saw-off Besiktas 77-64 in Greece to improve to 1-1.

Vassilis Spanoulis led the Reds with 18 points as they never trailed in this contest. Besiktas, who were led by Damir Markota with 14 points and 10 rebounds fall to 0-2 in the group

In Group E, Zalgiris got their first win of the Euroleague Top 16 as they defeated Unicaja Malaga 75-63 in Kaunas

The Lithuanian champions collect their first win in the Top 16 but they were made to work hard by the Spaniards who stayed with them most of the way, but Unicaja were finally outdone as a 9-2 burst to start the fourth quarter set Zalgiris on their way.

Mindaugas Kuzminskas who was instrumental in the 9-2 run led all scorers with 14 points for the winners. Malaga were led by 11 points from both Earl Calloway, who scored all 11 of his points in the first half, while Luka Zoric added six rebounds to his 11 points.

CSKA Moscow defeated Alba Berlin 75-57 in the German capital to go 2-0 in the Top 16 and remain unbeaten away from Russia.

Milos Teodosic led CSKA with 17 points as an early 12-2 run set Moscow on their way  to victory and relegate Berlin to 0-2 in Group E.

Dashaun Wood led Alba with 14 points.
