Panko, Gist and Cook move on to Top 16 with different clubs

In the build up to the Euroleague Top 16, Panathinaikos and Unicaja Malaga are amongst the teams that have altered their rosters.

Andy Panko will join Unicaja Malaga for the Top 16. Panko (2.03 meters, 35 years old) arrives to Malaga from having been a part-time starter in the regular season with Panathinaikos Athens. Panko averaged 9.2 points while helping the Greens reach the Top 16 with a third-place finish in their group. His 4.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists were second-best among Panathinaikos players in the regular season. With both teams in the same Top 16 group, Panko will now return to Athens to face Panathinaikos when Unicaja visits there in the third week of the second phase, on January 10.

Forward James Gist, a regular on Turkish Airlines Euroleague highlights, has joined Panathinaikos Athens in an exchange of players whose teams will face each other in the upcoming Top 16. Gist (2.06 meters, 26 years old) arrives to Panathinaikos from Unicaja Malaga, while forward Andy Panko heads in the opposite direction to Spain. Gist averaged 8.6 points and 4.8 rebounds in 10 regular season games in helping Unicaja finish second in its regular season group.

Caja Laboral Vitoria reached an agreement with playmaker Omar Cook on a deal for the remainder of the season, the club announced Wednesday. Cook, who arrives from EA7 Emporio Armani, has led the Top 16 in assists in each of the past four seasons.
