Kobe Bryant set another record in his great career, by becoming the youngest player to have ever reached 30.000 NBA career points.
Be doing so he has joined an elite group of just five players who were able to reach 30.000 NBA points: Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone and of course Michael Jordan.
However, and although Kobe is the youngest player to reach the 30.000 points benchmark, it took the most games to reach them. Here is the full table (courtesy of ESPN and Elias Sports Bureau):
PLAYER | POINTS | GAMES |
AGE |
K. Abdul-Jabbar | 38,387 | 1,101 | 36y217d |
Karl Malone | 36,928 | 1,152 | 36y189d |
Michael Jordan | 32,292 | 960 | 38y321d |
Wilt Chamberlain | 31,419 | 941 | 35y179d |
Kobe Bryant | 30,016 | 1,179 | 34y104d |
The only other two active player in the Top20 of all time points leaders are Kevin Garnett (#17 with 24,553) and Dirk Nowitzki (#19 with 24,134). It should be noted that except Jordan, all the others have played for the LA Lakers, but only Kobe Bryant has spent his entire career playing for the Lakers.
