Cholet steals one on the road in Zagreb, Eurocup round-up

Cholet Basket grabbed their first win of the Eurocup season after a thrilling 95-90 road win over KK Cibona in the Croatian capital.

The French side are now 1-2 in Group G and back in the hunt for a Last 16 place while Cibona now drop to 0-3. It looked to be going well for the visitors, as they led 46-37 at half-time, but Cibona hit back in the third with a 15-4 burst which made things interesting, but Cholet held on to the lead going into the fourth and Cibona couldn’t respond further.

Marcus Goree led Cholet with 20 points and seven rebounds, supported by A.J. Slaughter’s 18 points. Tomislav Zubcic and Andrija Zizic led Cibona with 24 points each.

KK Buducnost came away from Belgium with a 66-53 win over Belgacom Spirou in a scrappy encounter which gives the Montenegrins a 2-1 record and maybe good enough for top spot in the early stages of Group B by the week’s end.

Spirou, a Euroleague side just last season now drops to 0-3.

Demarquis Bost led the visitors with 13 points, Nikola Jankovic led all scorers in vain for Spirou with 15 points and eight rebounds.

31 points in 27 minutes from Justin Doellman, including three triples and not missing a single two-pointer from nine attempts propelled Valencia to a comfortable 97-64 over German side s.Oliver Baskets.

Bojan Dubljevic added 18 points as the Liga Endesa side move to 3-0 in Group D while the Germans drop to 1-2. They were led by 13 points from Dwayne Anderson.
