Charles Oakley urges NBA to look into James Dolan’s management of the Knicks following Spike Lee incident

Charles Oakley has called for the NBA to look into James Dolan and the way he runs the New York Knicks in the wake of the recent controversial incident involving Spike Lee.

The movie director and Knicks superfan, who has since claimed to be the victim of harassment, had a run-in with security at the Madison Square Garden while trying to attend a game against the Houston Rockets on Monday night. He’s stated he won’t be returning this season.

Oakley had a poor experience of his own at the Garden back in 2017 when he was escorted out of the building then arrested after shoving a security guard. And, speaking on ESPN Radio’s Golic and Wingo, he branded the organization a “plantation” under Dolan, who he says has control issues.

Oakley also spoke to the Associated Press in a phone interview on Tuesday night.

“It’s got to be stopped in some kind of way,” he said. “The NBA has got to take a look at this. You can’t keep closing your eyes to this. This is like, turn your head if you see someone beat somebody up and you just keep walking. It just keeps happening in New York. People are not going to come here because it’s the same thing over and over and over. They got a new president and all everyone is talking about what happened between Spike Lee and the Garden.”
