PAOK handed the keys to new point guard

PAOK Thessalonki have signed veteran point guard Billy Keys for the remainder of the Greek A1 season.

Keys, a European basketball journeyman, signs from fellow Greek side Panionios where he led the club to a best third place finish behind Euroleague giants Panathinaikos and Olympiacos last season.

In 2008, Keys, 34, caused a stir when he was chucked out of the Marousi team for reportedly “not wanting to play” in a Greek league game. The guard told media he had an injury even though team doctors told him that he was fine.

To add to his vast European experience, which has seen him in Spain, Italy and Ukraine; Keys has also played for a number of NBA sides in the Summer League. He has suited up for the Portland Trailblazers, Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons and Houston Rockets, though he has never played in the NBA regular season.
