Kalnietis pens three-year deal with Lokomotiv

Mantas Kalnietis will spend the next three years in Russia after signing a deal with Lokomotiv Kuban, the club’s President Andrey Vedischev confirmed on his twitter page.

It will be the second club in his career for the 26-year-old Lithuanian international and the first time he’ll be playing abroad. Despite his relatively young age, Kalnietis already has seven seasons of Euroleague basketball experience as well as multiple EuroBaskets and one Olympic appearance.

Alfa.lt reports that the Russian club paid 300,000 euros buy-out to Zalgiris for Kalnietis.

Meanwhile Lithuanian media reports that Zalgiris is negotiating with Chris Quinn who would come to Kaunas as a replacement for Kalnietis. Both players are clients of the same agent.

Quinn spent last season in Russian with Khimki.
