Andriuskevicius close to Neptunas

Martynas Andriuskevicius, who missed the biggest part of last season after being sidelined due to spinal disc herniation, is ready to get back and play basketball at his fullest.

The 26-year-old 218cm center successfully recovered from his injury and is lately practicing with Neptunas Klaipeda team, in which he might end up for the remainder of the season.

As Neptunas’ GM Osvaldas Kurauskas told local media the Lithuanian big man wasn’t willing to sign a contract for the full season, but has recently changed his mind and is considering to join the debutantes of VTB United League.

“We’re in intensive negotiations with Martynas Andriuskevicius. He’s been training with us for three weeks. During the next few days it should become clear whether he officially becomes Neptunas member or not. Seeing Vladas Garastas Cup games once again I noticed that our big men – more precisely centers – are our weakest part of the team. We need to strengthen this position,” said Kurauskas.

Not that long ago Neptunas signed former Lithuanian international point guard Giedrius Gustas while Russian forward Nikita Barinov is still in tryouts with the team.
