Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons will be re-evaluated in two weeks for a nerve impingement in his lower back, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

However, there is little expectation that Simmons would be ready to return to the lineup that soon, as doctors are hopeful treatment can drive improvement.

There’s also no timeline for a Simmons return, but an evaluation in two weeks is more of an initial benchmark date rather than an expectation of a return to the lineup, according to Wojnarowski.

Simmons originally tweaked his back in the 76ers’ first practice after the All-Star break.

He then missed the team’s game against the Brooklyn Nets on Feb. 20, but returned on Feb. 22 against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Simmons was forced to leave that game after aggravating the injury.

He is averaging 16.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 8.7 assists and a league-leading 2.1 steals per game.

Without Simmons, Shake Milton and Alec Burks figure to handle the ball more, while Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris and Josh Richardson will see even more usage.

Embiid scored a career-high 49 points against the Atlanta Hawks without Simmons in the lineup.
