UNICS has taken the Greek basketball market by storm and is signing one Greek international player one after another. This time Vouyoukas who will be playing in Russian until 2014.

The newest acquisition of the Tatarstan team is Ian Vouyoukas. The player had made tremendous progress during the past three seasons at Panellinios first and then at Panathinaikos, winning a number of titles in the process.

Vouyoukas has been one of the most offensively efficient players for Panathinaikos in the last edition of Euroleague, losing only to Jaycee Carroll and Bo McCalebb when it came to points per 40 minutes category.

In fact, his exclusion from the Greece national team due to bad relationship with the coach, although he clearly deserved to be called up, cost them the Olympic qualification, which in turn cost the coach his job.

Vouyoukas had a number of offers, including Panathinaikos and Unicaja Malaga but he chose to join fellow Greek players Kostas kaimakoglou.

UNICS has also shown interest in another Greek player, so the Kazan Greek diaspora could grow even bigger soon.
