Hosts GB announce Olympic squad

Great Britain coach Chris Finch has named his final roster for the Olympic Games which starts in three weeks.

The roster was announced earlier at Loughbrough with Pops Mensah-Bonsu the only new face in a largely retained team from last year’s Eurobasket in Lithuania. Pops missed that tournament through injury.

Point guard Ogo Adegboye was the final cut from the roster as he joins Matthew Bryan-Amaning, Devon van Oostrum and Myles Hesson who will now look to make their mark hopefully at Eurobasket 2013 in Slovenia.

“Cutting down to a final 12 is always difficult,” Finch addmitted. “We had a really productive camp in Houston and to finally announce the Olympic team here in Loughbrough is fantastic.

“The next four weeks provide us with outstanding competition leading up to the Olympics, which is just what is required before doing battle within our group come Games time.”

We have all worked very hard for this opportunity and to have the final 12 named is exciting,” GB star player Luol Deng said. “The next few weeks will fly by and I can’t wait to step on the court with my teammates at the Games. We plan to make Great Britain proud.”

Great Britain squad:

Kieron Achara, Robert Archibald, Eric Boateng, Dan Clark, Luol Deng, Joel Freeland, Kyle Johnson, Andrew Lawrence, Mike Lenzly, Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Nate Reinking, Drew Sullivan.
