Vujosevic signs for Partizan

Dusko Vujosevic officially became the coach of Serbian champions Partizan. Today he signed a contract for an indefinite period.

The vastly experienced coach with a total of 20 championships will replace Vlada Jovanovic who will continue his career in the Ukraine with Donetsk.

Vujosevic won ten national titles (nine in a row), five national Cups, four trophies in the Adriatic League, Radivoj Korac Cup and led the team two times to Euroleague Final Four tournaments.

Dusko Vujosevic became for the first time black and white coach through the 1986/1987 season as a 27 year-old and already that season he took first national title with Divac, Djordjevic, Paspalj, Obradovic, Nakic and Pecarski. Next season young team had showtime in Europe but lost semifinals game against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the first Euroleague’s Final Four format.The following season won the Korac Cup and national Cup.

He briefly coached Red Star, and then worked six years in Italy, in Brescia, Pistoia and Scavolini.

In the summer of 2001 he began a new era with Partizan and grabbed an unbelievable 17 more titles. With the award of best European coach and after nine successful years, he went to CSKA Moscow.

Vujosevic said on today’s promotion  that the aim in the future will be the same – staying the recognised factory of good young players in Europe and the NBA. He did not believe that the club’s record of 11 titles in a row could ever be broken and he will try to make this result more difficult for anyone who wants to end this series.
