In a recent interview with Lakers Fanclub UK, Los Angeles Lakers rookie Talen Horton-Tucker discussed being drafted by the 16-time NBA Champions.

“It was surreal. You know, everybody wants to come to a great team and a great organisation coming into the league.. the Lakers, you know, I couldn’t ask for anything else. I feel like I got what I wanted. I was happy.”

Horton-Tucker also stated his feelings when putting on the purple and gold for the first time, making his NBA debut.

“It was a blessing, you know to actually being able to be on the court, and actually get some minutes. A few minutes, even though they were short. It’s a blessing that I actually touched the court.”

The 19-year-old has been on assignment with the G-League outfit, the South Bay Lakers, for the majority of the season. Where he is averaging 17.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.4 steals, through 28 contests. He is shooting at a 40.9% rate from the field, and 28.4% from 3-point land.

When questioned about his development in the G-League, Horton-Tucker had the following to say:

“Yeah, every game I feel like I have to go out there with a purpose. I have to try and play and try and get better every day. That’s what I’ve been doing. Everybody wants to be on the big stage and play in the NBA, but you got to wait your turn. That’s what I’ve been doing. Hopefully, it comes sooner rather than later.”
