Mavericks to sign Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, waive Ryan Broekhoff

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has agreed to sign with the Dallas Mavericks, who waived Ryan Broekhoff to create a roster spot for their new addition.

Kidd-Gilchrist completed his buyout with the Charlotte Hornets over the weekend.

After averaging only 8.6 points per game in eight seasons with the Hornets, Kidd-Gilchrist will get a change of scenery.

He will provide the Mavericks with solid defense that will be needed to guard some of the more talented wing players in the Western Conference.

The 29-year-old Broekhoff appeared in 59 games and averaged 10.7 minutes per game in his two seasons with the Mavericks.

Though he wasn’t used much, Broekhoff is a career 40.3 percent three-point shooter.

The Aussie was a favorite in the locker room, as he was beloved by his teammates.

After the news of his release, Broekhoff posted on Instagram to thank several people:
