According to some Spanish media Jorge Garbajosa is expected to announce his retirement from professional basketball in the next week or so, but the player himself is still undecided.
Various reports in Spain have said that the Unicaja Malaga forward is going to decide his future in the next few days but it is heavily rumoured that he is set to retire from all forms of basketball, bringing to an end a glittering 17-year career.
The 34-year-old started his professional basketball career in 1995 with Tau Vitoria, he also had spells in Italy before heading to the NBA to play for Toronto Raptors. He then moved on to Russia to play for BC Khimki before going back to Spain to play for Real Madrid.
Garbajosa averaged 6.8 points and 3.2 rebounds in 22 Liga Endesa games. The veteran also totalled up numbers of 6.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 14 Euroleague games.
Internationally, Garbajosa enjoyed great success with Spain. Winning the gold medal at the 2006 world championship in Japan. He also won the gold in Poland at the 2009 Eurobasket and claimed silver at the 2008 Olympic Games and Eurobasket 2007.
However the player himself has stated that he is undecided regarding his future, via his twitter account. In case he does retire after all, Unicaja Malaga are reported to be interested in Garbajosa staying on with the club in a coaching role next season.
