Besiktas and Anadolu Efes to Merge?

There are some rumours that the two clubs will merge in near future.

Yesterday, many Turkish media sources and newspapers including Milliyet, came up with the claim that two clubs will unite their power.

It was reported that during Besiktas Executive Board meeting, it has been decided that Besiktas would like to meet with Anadolu Efes Friday. The rumours of possible merge is not new and has been discussed since 2-3 years.

The president of Anadolu Efes club, Tuncay Ozilhan, is known for his close relations with Besiktas. Besiktas supporters side finds it useful to meet the adequate financial resources in order to build a stronger team, especially targeting Euroleague.

The supporters of Efes, however say that the club has culture and history and will not gain anything from this merge. There is one another example of unification two powerful clubs in Turkey, which had occured in 2006 when Ulker Group ceased operations of Ulkerspor and became the sponspor of Fenerbahce SK.
