Season over for Rose (vid)

Derrick Rose has been ruled out for the remainder of the play-offs after sustaining an injury during his team’s win over Hawks.

More specifically Rose has torn his anterior cruciate ligament, as confirmed by the Chicago Bulls official Twitter feed.

Rose will also miss the Olympic Games for the United States in London starting in July.

This comes to underline a disastrous season for Rose who had already missed 27 out of the 66 Bulls games during the regular season due to various injuries. Moreover Rose sustained his injury during the last minute of the game, while his team had already sealed the deal.

Rose, who was 2010/11 season MVP had even played carrying an injury at the last All Star Game. Bulls will now have to defend their home advantage without their superstar.

The point guard was a major factor in the USA’s world championship success in Turkey in 2010 which gave them an automatic passage to the London Games.

The Bulls defeated the Philadelphia 76ers in game one of the Playoffs 103-91. Rose had 23 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.
