The Cleveland Cavaliers have made Tristan Thompson available in trade talks, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

Thompson has been viewed as a potential trade candidate for most of the year with his expiring five-year, $82 million contract and the team’s place at the bottom of the standings.

If traded, the 28-year-old would be an ideal addition to a team looking for a defensive presence and rebounding, as Thompson is the ninth leading rebounder in the league, averaging 10.4 rebounds per game.

The Cavaliers seem like they want to accumulate other assets to build around with current young players like Darius Garland and Collin Sexton.

However, the team also seems unlikely to trade Kevin Love until the offseason, unless “something comes out of nowhere.”
