Kyle Lowry set Toronto Raptors’ assist record in the 130-114 win over the Atlanta Hawks. Pascal Siakam had 24 points and nine rebounds.

Raptors star Kyle Lowry became the franchise’s all-time leader in assists on Tuesday night, passing former player Jose Calderon. The whole team cheerfully cheered this moment as well as former Raptor Vince Carter, who was watching the game.

Lowry now has 3,772 assists and counting, with Calderon’s previous record sitting at 3,770.

Lowry said he wanted to make sure to set the record while Vince Carter was in the building.

Tortonto Raptorts team was founded in 1995 as part of the NBA’s expansion into Canada.

Lowry on the assists record:

“To pass a guy like Jose, it means a tremendous amount. … To do it for this long, and to do it for this franchise, it means the world.”
