Memphis Grizzlies forward Bruno Caboclo will miss 4-6 weeks after he suffered a hyperextended left knee and bone bruise.
Caboclo suffered the injury on Jan. 13 while playing for the Memphis Hustle in the G League.
However, subsequent imaging revealed no structural damage in the knee, according to the team’s press release.
Caboclo was a first-round draft pick in 2014 and played well in the second half of last season, averaging 8.3 points and 4.6 rebounds in 34 games.
Last season’s performance earned him a guaranteed contract this season, but he’s only played in 22 games, averaging 8.7 minutes in those games.
Despite the guaranteed contract, and with the Grizzlies in the playoff hunt, Caboclo could potentially be released if the team were to make a trade and receive more players than they send.
