The Los Angeles Clippers and the Philadelphia 76ers have trade interest in New York Knicks forward Marcus Morris.
The 76ers reportedly have interest in Morris as a solid two-way forward off the bench.
Morris’ hometown team has championship aspirations, so both of these factors could get Morris’ attention if the 76ers do indeed pursue him.
Despite the interest he is drawing, Morris has stated that he doesn’t want to be traded by the Feb. 6 deadline, so he can stay and help the rebuilding Knicks.
“I’m a vet in this game,” Morris said. “That s–t doesn’t bother me anymore. Rumors are rumors. I’m excited to help to turn this around. I’m not paying that any mind. I’m focused on what we got going on in this locker room.”
Morris’ expiring $15 million contract and playoff experience make him an attractive addition for a playoff contender.
Any potential deal for Morris would likely have to include a third team such as the Atlanta Hawks, to absorb the contract numbers, according to Marc Berman of The New York Post.
Morris is averaging a career-high 18.5 points per game, while also shooting 42.8 percent from the field and 45.4 percent from three-point.
