Anadolu Efes won 74:68 against Žalgiris in Kaunas and now is the only team with 12 victories after fourteen rounds in the EuroLeague.
The Turkish club is in first place, leaving behind Real Madrid, Barcelona and Maccabi Tel Aviv, who are only one or two victories behind.
So far, last year’s finalists are showing the best team basketball in the strongest European basketball club competition. And the game against Žalgiris was just a confirmation of their quality.
The guests from Turkey started the game much better than the home team and scored 26 points after only 10 minutes, leaving behind Žalgiris with only 17.
But, in the second part of the match, Šarunas Jasikevičius’ squad responded very well and finished the first half leading by one point (43-42).
In the second half, Anadolu Efes totally took control of the game, even though both teams scored fewer points than in the first 20 minutes. So the score, in the end, was 74-68 for the guests.
Tibor Pleiss was the best player in the match with 18 points and 7 rebounds (index rating of 21), while his teammate Vasilije Micić also scored 18 points for Anadolu Efes. Another double-digit scorer for the Turkish squad was Rodrigue Beaubois with 16 points.
For Žalgiris, Jock Landale ended the match with 16 points, Edgaras Ulanovas with 14, and Martinas Geben with 11.
