Eurobasket 2013 qualifying round seeds announced

FIBA Europe has announced the seedings for the EuroBasket 2013 and the EuroBasket Women 2013 Qualification Round as well as the 2011 Youth European Championships 2012 Draw, which will take place in Freising, near Munich, Germany on 4thDecember 2011.

With the results of the EuroBasket 2011 taken into account, Serbia, Turkey and Germany will be top seeds alongside  Finland and Georgia who made it to the Second Round in Lithuania together with Croatia who post the better coefficient among the teams which ended their campaign after the EuroBasket 2011 First Round.

In total 31 teams will fight for 16 places in the EuroBasket 2013 Final Round in Slovenia, while 10 tickets are still available for the EuroBasket Women 2013 Finals which is to be played in France.

214 teams will enter the Draw for the 14 Youth Championships which are to take place across six age categories and three divisions next summer.

The European Championships for Small Countries (formerly known as Division C), for Men and Women will take place in San Marino and F.Y.R. of Macedonia respectively. The exact dates will be confirmed later.

EuroBasket 2013

Olympic Games or Olympic Qualifying Tournament participants Spain, France, Russia, FYROM, Lithuania, Greece, Slovenia and Great Britain are all qualified directly to of EuroBasket 2013 Final Round.

The 31 remaining teams will be divided into 5 groups of 5 teams and one group of 6 teams. The first and second placed teams in each group plus the 4 best third placed teams will qualify for the Final Round.

The Qualifiers will be played between 15thAugust and 11thSeptember 2012. The EuroBasket 2013 Finals will be staged in Slovenia, between 4thand 22ndSeptember 2013.

The seeding for the draw is determined by the team’s results in the latest official FIBA Europe competition. Teams from the same group of seeds cannot be drawn against each other.
