Dallas Mavericks will take on the Detroit Pistons on Thursday in Mexico City. It will be the fourth consecutive year that the NBA has played two regular season games there.

Due to the coming game, the talks of a possibility for NBA to have a team in Mexico started again. Mavs’ head coach Rick Carlisle thinks it is a real possibility and that it would make sense to have a team in Mexico due to a great interest which is already there.

Here is what Carlisle said on the topic, per Eddie Sefko of Mavs.com:

“It’s a possibility, for sure,” Carlisle said of the idea of putting a team in Mexico. “It’s not as far as you might think. It’s a two-hour flight for us. There are a few other teams that are closer. It’s something that certainly could be doable.

“I don’t know where the league is on all that stuff. But they have a great building and they certainly have a fan base that would have great interest in it. The love of the NBA game that the people in Mexico City have. It’s heartwarming.”
