BBL MVP, Bell signs for Plymouth

Plymouth Raiders have signed reigning British Basketball League MVP Jeremy Bell, as they look to challenge for domestic honours this season.

Bell spent last season with the Cheshire Jets, averaging 23 points and three assists during his time there. The six-foot guard arrived in Plymouth on Monday night and has already trained with the team.

Bell was also instrumental the Jets’ playoff win against the Raiders last season.

He is expected to make his debut against Durham Wildcats in the BBL Cup on Saturday night.

In a related move, Plymouth has decided to release guard Ben Smith from his contract with immediate effect.

“It was a tough decision to make,” Plymouth coach Gavin Love admitted.

“But its better to make it now rather than later in the season and bring in a great player like Jeremy who will really enhance the team.”
