Sabatini planning to organize the Kobe Cup

Virtus Bolgna owner Claudio Sabatini is planning to organize the ‘Kobe Cup’ in hunour of Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant, as the flamboyant owner continues his pursuit of the former NBA Finals MVP.

Even though the details are rough and fully prepared, Sabatini, along with Rob Pelinka is planning on setting up games in Bologna, Rome and Milan with three teams. The games will be shortened with just two quarters to be played of 12 minute periods.

Sabatini also wants to involve a foreign team so that he can sell the TV rights to the tournament abroad.

The Kobe Cup, if finalized will begin at the very end of October through till November.

The circus that the Virtus Bologna owner has created over Bryant has been well documented, just last week he submitted a letter to the United States President Barack Obama, a big basketball fan, to help lure the Lakers guard to Italy for a brief period of time.

The Kobe Cup is still being planned at this time. There has been no word on the matter from Bryant or anyone else involved.
