Beverley wants to play for Russia NT

Spartak Saint Petersburg player Patrick Beverley has expressed his wish to play for the Russian National Team in the 2012 London Olympics.

In an interview to RIA Novosti’s Taras Barabash the player was quoted saying:

“I’m sure that the Russian team will play in the Olympics (they have to make it through the pre-Olympic tournament first) and I would love to help out the team by playing in London. I hope to receive a Russian passport as soon as possible, as I want to represent the Russian NT.”

Beverley also wants to follow JR Holden’s footsteps: “If I receive an invitation for Russian NT, I will accept it right away. It would be a great honour for me to represent Russia. And I hope it will happen soon. My compatriot JR Holden has already done it. I like Petersburg and I got to love Russia and its hospitable people. I want to please them by playing for Russia. The most important thing for now is to get my passport.”
