In 2018 NBA Draft the Phoenix Suns picked DeAndre Ayton as the first overall pick over Luka Doncic. When asked whether he has any regrets not picking Doncic instead, former Suns coach Igor Kokoskov, while not revealing the reasoning behind choosing Ayton, claimed he sleeps peacefully.
Here is what Kokoskov said, according to Dan Feldman of NBC Sports via Yahoo Sports:
“Unfortunately, I cannot answer that question because of a professional code, but when you have already asked me, I will tell you that I sleep peacefully and peaceably”
While Doncic took the NBA by storm and his name is already a part of MVP talks, Ayton had a more difficult start of his pro career. On October 24, 2019, after the 2019–20 season opener, Ayton was suspended for 25 games after testing positive for a diuretic, violating the NBA anti-drug policy.
