Washington Wizards rookie Rui Hachimura is already getting comparisons to some of the biggest stars of the league. Recently, former NBA player Chauncey Billups compared Hachimura to the Los Angeles Clipper star Kawhi Leonard.

Tough Clippers head coach Doc Rivers is of different opinion. Responding to such comparison, Rivers stated that it’s too early and he wouldn’t want that. Instead, Hachimura should be allowed to be himself.

Here is what Rivers said, according to Fred Katz of The Athletic:

“I wouldn’t want that. That’s too early. Let him be him…But everything I hear about him, forget the basketball part, is that he’s supposed to be a great kid. And that helps.”

In his debut season, Hachimura is averaging 12.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game for the Wizards.
